Abstract

In the verge of rising rates of suicides and unnatural deaths of the children in recent years, the alarming situation of child abuse specially sexual abuse has been more prominent than before. Where a large number of children are being deprived of basic rights due to unacceptable conditions of poverty and social-environmental conditions as well as lack of family bonding, child abusers often get fair chances to do their heinous act of abuse by taking the opportunity of child’s interaction periphery and circumstances. With the increase of child sexual abuse whether commercially or non-commercially, the awareness level of the society and close acquaintances on the mental health effects on the victim child’s development are becoming a vital issue. This study is aimed to focus on the social perception state and awareness level of the people of Bangladesh regarding the mental health impact of child sexual abuse in the development of the victim child. Primarily through real life case studies and supporting it with different journals, newspaper articles and theories as secondary resources the study has tried to shed a light on the real scenario of Bangladesh here.
